Okay… Deep breath… Windermere has a lot of wedding venues (and even more photographers) but not many can boast the heritage and importance of the boat racing club. It is steeped in racing heritage, water speed records, has a panel from the Bluebird hanging in the main function room, porthole windows and art deco styling. Outside there is a slate, yes slate terrace that overlooks Windermere and biblically beautiful gardens that lead down to jetties and the lake shore.
They only do so many weddings a year at the boat racing club but for those who are lucky enough to secure a date it can be the most incredible venue for weddings. There is also a grassed area outside which may have been a bowling green where a marquee for at least a hundred people can be erected, making this a very flexible venue too. Not many photographers can really do this place justice and I have only ever seen a handful of portfolios that have really made the boat racing club shine, but it stands to reason that in the Lake District, good wedding photographers are what do the great weddings and great venues justice.
A really beautiful place.
