So, Abbey House, One of only two venues in Barrow that I have photographed at. Abbey house has a party trick too, it can split itself in two to separate the old part of the hotel from the newer part. This is a blessing for the owners (two weddings a day) and can prove difficult for photographers as the back of the hotel is open for all guests to use. The two frocks should never meet rule always applies at weddings,so it is always a good idea to hunt out the other wedding photographer and establish when you will be outside and using the grounds.
The grounds! Expansive to say the least and full of rows of trees and always with that beautiful sandstone venue in the background. It is only a short walk down to Furness Abbey but if you aren’t getting married there they will charge to take photographs there. Another thing to love is the interiors, lovely oak paneled walls and plush furnishings make it a great place to photograph on a rainy day. The fountains at the front are really beautiful too and there is also a garden in front of the modern part of Abbey House that is great for wedding photographs.
In Barrow, if you have a lot of guests, there is little choice. If I were to have one hotel in my town though, it would probably be this one. A great place to be a wedding photographer in Cumbria.
