I have put these two venues into the same gallery because they are within touching distance of each other. Plus the two weddings that I have shot at the Crown and Mitre, ended up at the Tithe Barn for their evening reception. I don’t do a huge amount of weddings in Carlisle, but there is something lovely about photographing in my home town. It’s like a break from the Lake District, a holiday, Just every once in a while.
Around the Crown and Mitre, as well as the abundance of natural light inside is the town centre of Carlisle, the only city in Cumbria, cafes bars and an abundance of lanes and locations at the photographers disposal. Neglect these at your peril as some of the most unassuming locations can produce the best images when photographing in an urban environment.
The Tithe Barn has a beautiful gate and grassed area outside with the most amazing interior. High beams and original stone walls make this an amazing wedding venue. Again, getting SVL lighting in to light the space can make it a really special place at night. Just beyond the grounds are the West Walls. An amazing part of the old walled city, where there are stacks of locations.
Photographing weddings at these two venues is ace, a real treat and break from the greenery! Hahaha.
