Now as wedding venues in the Lake District go, this one is a brute.. A beautiful one, with Lake access. Now come on, what could be better than that? The Low Wood is the stuff of legend amongst photographers and it has a huge amount going for it. Massive staircases, very stylish and lavish reception rooms and for Lake District wedding photographers, a bar with a chequer board floor!
There are smaller lounges off from the main atrium which are usually waiting areas for guests but allow me to get some really natural images of guests chatting and relaxing. The reception room can be sectioned off to cater for even the biggest wedding party and photographing under the chandeliers in the main upper hallway is brilliant. The wedding team there are quick and efficient too which always makes a wedding go smoothly.
Just over the road from the Venue is a really nice jetty and Windermere Lake Cruises can collect and drop off here for Lake Cruises. There is also a funky little hut owned by the sailing club a little way down from the jetty and the braver bride and groom can venture down to the boats (heavily advised) to have some photographs taken amongst them.
A really great venue with a lot to offer a creative photographer on a wedding day and a real bonus to have such a large capacity venue in the heart of the Lake District.
